If nothing works - or only partially
works, go to MotherShip for DLLs:
- This
should fix all of your problems. Click now and read
later. This is a big file (1.3 MBytes)
- Choose "Run this program...." after you click -
and wait (13 Min at 14 KBaud) (6 Sec on ADSL)
- This program comes straight from MicroSoft.com (unless
there's a broken
link - in which case, try this
- or this).
- It is a Setup program - containing MSVBVM50.DLL and other
famous Dynamic Link Libraries.
- It will painlessly
install all of the required support for VB5 projects.
- You just have to click "Next" a few times - BUT - you may
have to reboot your computer to complete
the installation.
If you're nagged by wierd Security
messages, turn off the Alerts
- On the Menu Bar, click View
and then Internet Options...
(at the bottom) - And move the popup window so you can
read this.
- Click the "Security" Tab. (At the top of the
popup box (next to "General"))
- Click "Custom" (the bottom Option bullet) and
"Settings..." (the button next to it)
- In the next window, Enable all references to
"ActiveX controls" (the top 5)
- CAUTION: You may not want to do this if you surf
in hostile or invasive environments
- Go OK, OK, to get back to the browser
- Hit the "Refresh" button. No more nags?
If you have other strange problems, try
the exotic:
- Flush your Cache
- In Windows 98:
Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, and System
Tools.
Click "Disk Cleanup" (at the top).
Select the C: Drive (or whichever Drive Windows
is on)
Make sure "Temporary Internet Files" is
ticked
Go "OK" and "Yes", you're
sure.
In most Caches, this will delete needless and
conflicting clutter.
- In Windows 95:
- Uninstall "Downloaded Program Files"
- In Windows 98:
"Disk Cleanup" probably won't delete
the CAB file that came with the opening page.
Go to Windows Explorer (File Manger) and look in
\Windows\Downloaded Program Files
Hit F5 to unhide fresh files.
If there's a file in there called Boink.BoinkCtl,
highlight it, click File and Remove
Program File
If Acess is Denied, quit IE and try
again
If that didn't, reboot and try again
If that didn't work, go for a walk in the park.
- In Windows 95:
